For the Keiji Mutoh/Great Muta fan in your life that has everything, this next entry focuses
on four pieces of obscure merchandise that may raise a few eyebrows.
Blog #186 is all about the LEG LOCK Pen and photo set.
The first item of business (and quite literally, mind you) is an official LEG LOCK office pen.
LEG LOCK was the official merchandise brand of Keiji Mutoh starting in 2003; which,
just so happens to coincide with Mutoh becoming All Japan Pro-Wrestling's president in
2002.
The text reads "Keiji Mutoh Office since 2003".
While the LEG LOCK brand no longer exists, Keiji Mutoh recently unveiled a new
merchandise licensing company and website similarly called "MUTOH OFFICE" which
you can check out here: https://muto-office.co.jp/
When I originally purchased this office pen, three postcards were also included in the bundle.
Here's some scans of the postcards:
The first postcard features a great shot of Keiji Mutoh in his entrance attire.
While my Hiragana isn't the best, I know the far left columns read "All Japan Pro-Wrestling,
Keiji Mutoh".
Surprisingly, Keiji Mutoh didn't sign this postcard with his standard, circular signature.
Just in case you were wondering, the signatures are all printed facsimiles.
The second postcard contains a very rare example of Keiji Mutoh writing in English!
The postcard contains a splendid shot of Keiji Mutoh's alter-ego Great Muta (Alt. Spider
attire). Mutoh also signed the postcard as "Great Muta". I don't think I've seen too many
Muta signatures where Mutoh writes out all of the letters in "Great Muta".
Don't forget the tarantula in the top left corner. Another reference to Muta's spider attire
from the era.
The third and final postcard is of Keiji Mutoh's third alter-ego, the short-lived Kokushi
Muso (a play on Hakushi/Jinsei Shinzaki's monk gimmick).
Mutoh has signed this postcard with his Kokushi Muso signature.
Again, I can't think of too many pieces of Kokushi Muso merchandise making this postcard
extra special.
Closing thoughts:
Like many readers here, it should come as no surprise to find out that I am huge Keiji Mutoh/
Great Muta fan. The man's passion for Wrestling inside and outside of the ring has remained
a constant inspiration in my own life.
If you can find the postcards in decent condition (no bends, punctures, stains, creases, writing,
etc) I would pick them up in a heart beat.
In between posting more figure reviews and creating another online backup for everything posted
so far, I still have lots of Wrestling collectibles to scan. So, stay tuned for more collectibles coming
your way!
