Super Star Figure Collection Yuji Nagata figure review

Stepping back into the ring with more NJPW figures once again, Blog #155 covers three
Super Star Figure Collection figure variants of Pro-Wrestling legend Yuji Nagata.

The first and earliest figure variant was released in 1999 as the 20th figure in Toukon
Shop's Super Star Figure Collection line.

Nagata is dressed in his pre-Blue Justice ring attire complete with shoot style foot
guards.

Always be sure to note the overall condition of a figure's skin tone. I've owned
certain examples from the Toukon Shop and Mogura House that have contained
minor bits of discoloration on the arms and chest areas.

Let's examine the second Yuji Nagata figure:

Yuji Nagata's second Toukon Shop figure was released in 2001. This variant is the 44th
figure in Toukon Shop's Super Star Figure Collection.





The first major difference with this variant is the added facial hair. Yuji Nagata
now sports a goatee and a darker, more-realistic skin tone.

Personally, I've always felt the pale skin tone in Nagata's black trunks figure
was out of place.

Nagata is dressed in a ring attire more recognizable with his "Blue Justice" persona.

The text on Nagata's trunks read "BE AMBITIOUS".

The sides of Nagata's shoot style shin guards read "NAGATA".

Other Japanese shoot fighters that have had their names written on the sides of their
shin guards include Yoshihiro Takayama and Akira Maeda.

I especially like the fire design on the back of Nagata's shin guards.

Character Product would include two Nagata figure variants in the company's
Pro Kaku Heroes Mini Big Heads figure line starting in 2003.




In true Toukon Shop/Charapro fashion, there are two colour variants for Yuji
Nagata's 2001 figure.

The alternate variant includes blue wristbands, Nagata's name on his trunks
and less detail on Nagata's shin guards.

The alternate variant contains the same, identical packaging. Are you a big enough
Nagata fan to purchase both variants?


Closing thoughts:

For fans of Blue Justice, you can't go wrong with Toukon Shop's second or third Yuji
Nagata figures. From the corrected skin tone, era-accurate ring attires and overall quality,
there's no better figure depiction of Yuji Nagata.

Sadly, the blue justice variants would also be Nagata's last action figures to date.
